Sexy Food...

Yesterday while flipping through the newspaper, there's the mention of salmon being the sexy food. We had the sexy food covered with some not so sexy food. It's covered with cheese so how sexy can it be?
I was then seduced by the pork trotter. That's just half the trotter next time I should just braised the whole trotter. I love braised pork, whichever part it may be. With some shiitake mushrooms. I've upgraded to fresh shiitake mushrooms instead of the dried ones. The taste of the fresh ones is better.
A plate of healthy food. Carrots and enorki mushrooms... I prefer the trotter anytime~!!! Now waiting for the 'ting' of the oven. We're going to have something simple today~!! *woots*

Portugal in a Wok...

There's this restaurant by the name of Macau Street along Karpal Singh Drive. We went walked passed the restaurant and took a look at the menu. It was really disappointing. There's nothing that's worth to be mentioned as Macau's dishes. There were mainly Chinese dishes and a few Thai dishes but none of the Macau dished. Last week hubby prepared a few dished of Macau's authentic dishes. Just over the weekend, hubby continued with Macau's dishes. The taste was completely different from Thai or Chinese cooking even though it's somewhat spicy. Our kitchen deserved the name Macau Street better than the restaurant. The dish above was supposed to be baked perch with mussels in tomato sauce. But since there's no perch to be found, we used the red tilapia which was somewhat a wrong choice as the smell of fresh water was too strong. There's nothing nice about the green mussels flown in from New Zealand. I would prefer lala at any times.
That's Galinha a Cafreal, African chicken. I have no idea what's the African dish doing in Macau. I have yet to read the history. Will find some time to read the history of Macau. That's not too bad... not too bad... but here's the best...
The shrimp curry with quail's eggs was the best~! I like the thick gravy to the max~! My hubby is such a wonderful cook. While he was working hard in the kitchen, I was scratching my head upstairs with producing my prototype skirt.

Easter: Bunny and Eggs...

You want bunny, I have bunnies... you want Easter eggs, got two trays of them done by mi mama and my precious. I don't really catch the meaning of Easter between the bunnies and the eggs. I used to think that those are bunny eggs. Then, I learnt that bunnies are mammals and they don't lay eggs. Those Easter eggs are chicken eggs. Something went wrong somewhere. Did the bunnies steal eggs from the chickens? Why must the eggs be painted??? Bunnies got bored once a year and started to steal eggs then paint them so that the hens would not recognize their own eggs?
Good Friday is all about how Jesus died for all of us on the cross. He died so that our sins could be washed away. He first loved us before we love him but many chose not to know him at all. Some went to the extend of hating Him. Easter Sunday is about the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

There's no bunnies or painted chicken eggs printed in the Bible. Neither is there the mention of Christmas Day and Christmas tree...

Banana to the Rescue~!

Mi mama made this banana oreo cake. Me like it~! It's nice because of the bananas, not because of the Oreo. I dislike Oreo~!
I'm really into Chinese cuisine especially soups these days. So, I tried out this winter melon soup with golden thread and dunno what other herbs. It's a waste of the winter melon. It's so bitter that I could add a barrel of sugar but it would be of no help. Mi mama ended up finishing them all while the hubby could not handle the bitterness as well. Weird that the hubby could eat such bitter bitter gourd but could not have this.
Mi mama then fry some vegetables as vegetables are perishable goods so I guessed it's not nice to throw food away. I added some oyster sauce to make it tastier... The best is the one below~!
I may not get to have my soup but I tried this which I think before long, everybody else would be trying this. It's just bananas with bacon~! Roll them up and it's awesome~! Enough of having enorki rolled with bacon... It's banana for now~!
I have some cheesy baked chicken marinated with chilli powder.... not bad but should have been tastier if the marinade has been made better...

Stay Calm and have Meatballs...

While everyone has been putting up their receipts with service tax of 10% and being charged another 6% for GST, I haven't pay anything for GST yet. Looks like the service tax has been taxed for 6%. Some unscrupulous business people has increased their prices by 30%. Absurd~! And surprisingly, those who are making so much noise are those who frequently fly out of the country like they are taking a bus ride. It's the rice who always make the loudest noise. The poor has nothing to say. Since they already do not have much, and when more is taken from them, it makes no difference. When push comes to shove and they have no where to go, they will turn into the sort of people who has no fear for anything. One should not go overboard by simply charging and increasing the price as wished. Whatever the bickering is happening online, stay calm and have meatballs..
I made some meatballs to go together with the spaghetti. It's bolognese spaghetti with lots of tomatoes used. Nothing to say about GST. I don't think it will hurt my pocket that much as I don't do budgeting on my spending. I will always have more than enough.

The Peanut Cereal Cookies Recipe...

I have never share a recipe before... now that I'm sharing, it's time to grab it. The peanut cereal cookies are good for breakfast, tea or as the in-between snacks. Mine looked brown because we loved our cookies brown. If you prefer a lighter shade then by all means, go ahead. There's no right or wrong colour in making cookies.

Here goes....
195g flour
25g corn flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
100g unsalted butter
100g margarine
75g brown sugar
1 tbsp honey
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 egg
50g peanut butter
120g peanut
120g cereal

Mix everything together... and you know what to do next if you have been baking cookies.

A Mixture of Western and Chinese...

That's rice with tomato gravy, topped with mozzarella cheese melted in the oven. It's baked cheesy tomato rice with pork chop. The rice was suppose to be fried but I just added the needed seasoning directly into the rice cooker. The pork chop was marinated and then shallow fry in the pen. The tomato gravy was prepared separately. The whole thing looked simple but just too many steps. Thank God it turned out perfectly.
That's the Chinese double-boiled soup with a little herbs. Very simple and takes just 1.5 hours. I was suppose to use pork shin but I don't know which part is pork shin so I went to the market to buy pork knuckle and amazingly, I forgot to bring money. But the butcher was nice enough to ask me to take and leave, settle about the payment some other time. What's added were dried lychee and largehead atracylodes, in Chinese it's called bai zhu. Don't know what's that... don't know what kinda plants it's taken from. Don't bother to learn... yet.

So, that's for yesterday, Tuesday... saw my neighbours not working, so dragged them over for lunch.
